Our Current Form of Mental Organization

Our Current Form of Mental Organization

So why do I call it our form of mind organization? I have covered this earlier on how the written evidence of earlier civilizations shows a different mentality than ours. This was done to get you ready and to back up the fact that these civilizations did in fact exist.

I tell you this, because according to the cuneiform tablets those earlier civilizations had very different mental structures and methods of functioning. That didn’t make them inferior to us today, just different.

We are not to judge them, because it worked for them! Today; however, we have a very different form of mental structure in that we have a form of consciousness we use to navigate our current dispensation.

So let me digress a little as we delve into how this current form of mental structure most likely came about as far as we know. Al we have are the archaeological findings which we have to decipher, and it’s like reading a code that no longer used, or even not completely understood.

Since archaeologist have been able to read and understand as best they can about a civilization that’s no longer here. The best they can do is attempt form opinions from the cuneiform tablets as to what the lives of the people that lived during those earlier times was actually like.

Modern Day Consciousness

The one thing that seems to be clear is that the people who lived back in those times did not have the ability to introspect. Let me first explain what introspection is. This is something that all modern day people do just about every moment of every day.

In approximately 5000 B.C. from what we can tell people didn’t have that ability. Let me explain, Introspection is when you think of something you are planning to do next, and weather it makes sense to do it, or should you choose another action. You have the ability to see different out-comes and choose which to follow.

Remembering that in the previous chapter of this dissertation I said that the people were controlled by their hallucinated gods. That they would receive an auditory hallucination as a command to do this or that behavior.

And I also said that much of these behaviors were driven by hypostatic feelings emanating from their bodies. Such was the mental structure of the peoples back then evidenced in the early writings like the Iliad.

How did the Modern Mentality come about?

What has been ascertained?  Remember that all we have to go on are the old writings that were left behind by these early civilizations. And sometimes it’s not exactly clear. But here is what is believed to be the case.

Since civilizations were growing and the peoples from diverse groups were coming in contact with one another, the complexities of these interactions were much greater. The old mental structure just couldn’t keep up.

Thus the need for a better mental structure, you could compare this to a computers operating system. Obviously the computers today have much improved operating systems that they had previously.

But that explanation isn’t really complete, I need make my case in a much more substantive way.

So Why do we string words together?

So why do we string words together anyway?

What are created out of the words we use daily? Answer: Metaphors and Analogies.

So let me explain what these are, because these are the crux of the problem.

Let’s continue, as words become much more plentiful it becomes necessary to describe what they mean in conversation to others. For as things became more plentiful, describing them to someone who is not familiar with the thing becomes a challenge.

The Need

Thus the need for the Metaphor, because in its simplest form the metaphor is created to explain or to describe a thing or situation. Now you can see how complicated all of this is getting.

The metaphor is light years greater than the use of simple nouns for things. We are now coming out of the woods and starting to see some light.

Whit that last sentence what did you see? Did you see the woods in your mind you saw trees and a path of sorts and saw a representation of yourself coming out of the woods to a clearing?

Such is the power of the metaphor’

I hope you’re starting to get it. If not don’t worry you can read this article over and over until you do! Don’t worry I am not going to leave you, until I have taken you down the complete Rabbit-hole.

Thank You Dr. Julian Jaynes for your in-creditable work!

The Metaphor

As time progressed and groups grew larger food production became increasingly important. They had previously been Hunter Gathers, but now with the increase in populations it became necessary to feed larger populations and thus the agrarian civilization came about. Most were farmers and as such new tools and methods would come about as well.

We are getting closer please hang in there, as it’s my job to see to it that you get it.

The structure of the metaphor. According to the late Dr. Julian Jaynes 1920- 1997, who wrote the book The Origin of Consciousness In The Break Down Of The Bicameral Mind, Published Houghton Mifflin Company Boston New York.  He says we have to look back to the writings in the ILIAD to get a better understanding of how it came about. He calls it this period The Intellectual Consciousness of Greece.

Looking through the writings of the Iliad what we find are references to hypostasis bodily feelings that seem to be what drove their behaviors. They used terms like thumos, and phrenes, noos, and psyche, all of these he says were references to various physical states. These translated to mind, spirit,or soul, and kradie, ker and etor, often translted as heart or sometimes as mind or spirit.

Hopefully you’re still with me? This is at the beginning of language, these were feelings being described into language. He says that we may call these mind-words that later come to mean some-thing like conscious functioning.

You’ll understand more as we move along’

Mind Control Conspiracy

Mind Control Conspiracy

What is Mind Control and how does it work?

A CIA conspiracy did they really coin the phrase ‘conspiracy theory’ after the John F. Kennedy assassination? And are words used to confuse us?

This article is to shine the light on words and how they can work to close off discussions.

In preparation for this series it would be a good idea to first look up the word ETYMOLOGY’ you can find it in your Webster’s dictionary.

Someone once said ” words are the currency of our modern world.”

By the time we finish with this series because understand what language is, you’ll be better at detecting mind control when it’s being used in you’

Words and your Mind

So to start let’s take a look at language. What is it and how did it come about. And how it might have evolved over time.

In earliest of time primitive times, primates evolved simple sounds possibly to warn against danger. If a lion was approaching they may have made the a sound like ‘Wahee’ and if the lion was close they may have said Whoo’ these sounds would have been the precursors to simple words.

At this time these primate groups would have been maybe as many as 80 humans living in close proximity and so they would have understood these basic sounds and their meanings.

Other groups of humans would no doubt have their own words for danger and the like. Tis is no doubt why we have so many different languages today.

What are Words?

Today we rarely consider how all of these words came about and even less think about the power they have over us. So let’s get on with it’

Yes you may say well words are just how we communicate’ but that’s just too simple of an explanation.

Why Words Grow Over Time

Words come in many forms, we have nouns, adjectives’, verbs, conjunctions, etcetera, you get the idea. These I am sure you all learned in school. But that’s not what this dissertation is about. These kinds of things you already know.

The Time Period of Names

Some history is in order. Giving a name to some person or thing makes it more familiar to us. The name we give something stands in the place of that thing.  It is suggested that names first occurred around 10,000 B.C. to 8000 B.C. the Mesolithic era, and it’s hard for us sometimes to imagine names to be a human invention. But just like we invented tools to make our lives easier we also invented names for things.

Then as these populations grew in size obviously the need for more nouns to name things.

And as groups of humans became larger and more names were required such is the evolution of words necessary. I am sure that you can see that connection. And once you have a name for something or someone they can be mentioned in their absences.

Why do we string words together anyway?
